Help Tikkun Olam Get Out the Vote!
Western Mass Chutzpah Phone Banking Campaign: Turn Out the Climate Vote
September 24, from 6pm to 8pm, JCA Social Hall
Register for in-person or Zoom by clicking here
Though we live in a democracy, one with environmental regulation, not everybody finds that it's easy to vote.
Join Western Mass Dayenu and Jewish climate activists around the country in an evening of phone banking targeting "low frequency" voters who have a demonstrated interest in the environment. Dayenu, A Jewish Call for Climate Action will be teaming up with the Environmental Voter Project to reach as many voters as possible, particularly those who experience barriers to voting. We will be making calls (targeting Virginia) on Tuesday, September 24 from 6 - 8 pm. The EVP phone banks are non-partisan, urging people to vote and providing information about their polling place, registration and the rules about voting in their state.
To make this a fun event for all, we will be meeting at JCA as a group to join the phone bank. Bring your cell phone and laptop computer, (and possibly ear buds if desired). We will furnish light snacks, companionship and support. (Feel free to bring a "picnic dinner" for yourself; please remember the JCA guidelines of dairy and fish (no meat) and no nuts).
For more information please contact [email protected], or JCA organizer Kathy Pollard [email protected]
No phone banking experience is necessary, as we will be briefed. It will be fun to share this act of Tikkun Olam with each other
About Dayenu:
Dayenu is a Jewish call to climate action. It is partnering with the Environmental Voter Project to harness its superior targeting and technology for a phone banking campaign. They work with their grassroots Dayenu Circle network and allied Jewish organizations and communities to deliver urgent action on climate. Its goals are to: mobilize Jewish climate-concerned citizens to contact half-a-million voters in key states. We will be calling Virginia voters.
"Chutzpah is the audacity to demand a just and livable world. And it’s about building people power."
