Shemot Shelah Friday Night Kirtan
Divine feminine Hebrew kirtan with Anna Sobel, Brian Bender, Rabbah Riqi & friends
Friday November 22, 6:30pm
Beit Ahavah, 130 Pine Street, Florence
All welcome!
Shemot Shelah means Her Names in Hebrew. The practice of singing sacred names opens the heart and allows access to deep meditative states of bliss and peace. This is a Jewish divine feminine kirtan practice: some of the chants draw on text from the Song of Songs and the Friday night liturgy, while others simply invoke the Divine using feminine and non-binary names. [Between chants, storyteller/musician Anna Sobel reveals long lost Jewish women’s call-and-response prayer practices that resemble kirtan.] No prior knowledge of Hebrew is needed. All are welcome to come and sing.
Free to attend. Oneg reception with kiddush and motzi (challah) to follow.
RSVPs encouraged to [email protected].
