What if we put belonging at the heart of Jewish life at the JCA?  That’s the goal of the Belonging Project - a cutting edge Jewish communal initiative that merges scientific research, relationship best practices and ancient Jewish Wisdom.

The JCA is excited to be partnering with Clal and the Belonging Project to gain new insights that will help our congregation work towards our shared goal of becoming a community to which people feel that they belong. This initiative will give us information and tools to translate our intentions into actions.

Join us in getting started! Before we can move forward, we need to know where we are. To collect that information, Clal has developed a survey called the Belonging Index (https://su.vc/jca). It is anonymous, only takes 10-15 minutes, and you can do it on your phone or on your computer.

The survey asks a series of questions about all aspects of your experience at the JCA. Everyone 13 and older is welcome and encouraged to complete the survey. (Parents, please share this link with your teens.) Our goal is to have 40% of our membership respond to the survey before October 20! This survey is open to anyone who considers themselves to be part of the JCA community,  including people who regularly attend JCA events, not just official members. Your participation is vital. The more responses we get, the more effective this effort will be.

We are undertaking the Belonging Project in collaboration with Clal, an institute of innovative Jewish learning. Clal’s team is administering the survey. Over the coming months, Clal will provide our Belonging Project working group with a framework for understanding the data from the survey and help us identify concrete actions we can take to improve our congregants’ sense of community and belonging.
