From Revelation to Liberation: The Salvific Journey from 'Coming Out' at Purim to "Going Out' at Pesach
with Rabbi Debra Kolodny
Description
Jews have the journey from Liberation to Revelation down to a science. From the second day of Passover until Shavuot we count the Omer, preparing ourselves for our encounter with the One (Oneness?) at Sinai. If we do this practice spherotically, each day we ascend another rung of the 49 degrees of soul degradation imposed by slavery. And then, and then ... we can receive the full and glorious download of Torah.
But what of the journey between Purim and Passover? The time between Esther’s glorious self-revelation, when she comes out as Jewish and saves our people, to the time of our personal yitziat mitrayim/going out from Egypt. How does opening to our full sovereignty and power allow us to attain the most expansive liberation for ourselves and others? Or seeing this period through another lens, how do we move from one kind of salvation to another?
Aligning with the parsha hashavuah (the weekly Torah portion) along with midrash, mystical commentary, ritual, prayer, and spiritual friendship, we will mine the tools our tradition offers to fully engage with this expansive time. Join us and see how fire, kli kodesh (holy implements/instruments), confidence, equanimity, blight, asking for help, healing, and more might be just what we needed, though we didn’t even know it!
