Zoom Gathering for Rabbi Ellen Bernstein

I have learned the upsetting news that Rabbi Ellen Bernstein, a cherished member of our community and a beloved friend and colleague, who relocated back to Philadelphia a few years ago, has suffered a series of strokes.  She was subsequently diagnosed with untreatable cancer, and has entered hospice.

I know we are devastated by this news.  I ask you to hold her in your prayers for nights free of suffering and days filled with peace.  Please also hold her husband, Steven, in your hearts during this excruciating time.

There will be a Zoom gathering this afternoon from 3:00-3:30PM ET to pray for Ellen and send her our love. 

Part of the gathering will feature the reading of a passage from Ellen's beautiful new book, Toward A Holy Ecology: Reading the Song of Songs in the Age of the Climate Crisis and the chanting of a selection from the Song of Songs.
